Product Review - the Ped Egg

The Ped Egg.... Brilliant new concept or absolutely disgusting product?
I've been hearing about the Ped Egg for months now - My sister is actually the captain of the Ped Egg bandwagon and has been encouraging me to hop on. With summer well under way and my favorite sandals just begging to be worn I broke down and purchased the Ped Egg at my local CVS store. I have to admit that once I got past the gross-out factor (just check out the top right photo if you don't know what I'm talking about), I am actually quite pleased with the results.
Here's the marketing blurb from the Ped Egg official site: "The secret is PedEgg™'s precision micro-files that gently remove calluses and dead skin to give your feet the incredible baby soft look and feel that everybody loves. Two high quality emery buffing pads are included for the ultimate finishing touch. The unique “egg” shape of the PedEgg™ not only looks great, but is ergonomically designed to fit perfectly into the palm of your hand for easy and convenient use. Best of all, PedEgg™ has been designed to collect all the skin shavings in a convenient storage compartment allowing you to use it anywhere with no mess."
It's that last statement that makes my skin crawl. In essence what this product does is shave off the dry skin on your feet and collects it in the base... which means that YOU have to open it up and empty it out. Maybe it's just me but that gets my gag reflex all worked up. Because my vanity is stronger than my gag reflex I pushed past my disgust and began using the Ped Egg with really pleasing results. I use this in concert with the Girls Night In Peppermint Grapefruit Foot Cream & my feet have honestly never looked better.
So to answer my original question I have to say that the Ped Egg is a brilliant new concept... but also still a tad bit disgusting.
