Father's Day recipes

    `

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!  This photo captures a special moment between my husband and our baby boy moments after his birth - taken 8 months ago.  It's hard to believe he was ever that little!!!

Father's Day is a day to honor the dads in your life - and what better way to start the day off than with breakfast in bed?  Here are some tried and true recipes your guy is sure to love:

Baked French Toast
If the dad in your life has a sweet tooth first thing in the morning he's sure to love this fabulous baked french toast recipe:

  • 1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/3 cups brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices of bread in the bottom. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread slices, cover, and refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar and corn syrup; heat until bubbling. Pour over bread and egg mixture.

Bake in preheated oven, uncovered, for 40 minutes.

Egg and Sausage Breakfast Casserole
If your guy is more of a meat and potato lover this one is for him. This recipe is as easy to make as it is good.  He'll love it (and you for making it for him)!

  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Line the bottom of the prepared baking dish with crescent roll dough, and sprinkle with crumbled sausage. In a large bowl, mix beaten eggs, mozzarella, and Cheddar. Season the mixture with oregano, and pour over the sausage and crescent rolls.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

My best recommendation is to make his favorite meal - and if he loves cold pizza first thing in the morning then cold pizza it shall be!

Have a fantastic father's day!!!!
