Restaurant Review - San Francisco

I just got back from a fabulous week-long trip to San Francisco and wanted to share some amazing restaurant finds.   We had several wonderful meals while in SF and two restaurants in particular deserve major kudos for their delicious food, friendly atmospheres and wonderful staff.

The first restaurant is a quaint little Northern Italian restaurant in Nob Hill called the Nob Hill Cafe.  The seating is very cozy but not cramped, and the wait is long if you don't get there early (but the food is well worth it).  I had the sole picatta which was off the charts, my husband raved about the lasagna and my mom was equally impressed with the chicken picatta.  In fact, we enjoyed our meal so much we dined at Nob Hill Cafe twice.  The wait staff is extremely friendly and accommodating (Didn't bat an eye when we walked in with a babbling 8-month old), and it seems that the clientele were mostly locals - not a very "touristy" place.  They don't accept reservations so be sure to get there early (before 6:30) if you don't want to wait in line.  Just blocks from Grace Cathedral and the Fairmont Hotel, this is a must-visit site on your next trip to San Francisco.

The next restaurant is an adorable little (and I do mean LITTLE) French Restaurant also located in Nob Hill.  Rue Lepic is a fabulous, quaint and romantic little eatery.  My husband was working late so my mom and I headed over with the baby.  I felt a bit awkward walking in at first because there were several couples there for a romantic meal and I wasn't sure my angelic baby would be such an angel in this very small, quiet restaurant.  The wait staff didn't seem to have the same worry as they greeted us with smiles and showed us to our table.  Again, the food was fantastic.  My mom had a halibut dish that was delicious, and I had the filet - which I HIGHLY recommend.  The menu is a French-Asian fusion and from what I could gather, the fixed menu ($49 per person) is a great deal with an appetizer, soup, salad, entree and dessert.  They do take reservations at Rue Lepic so be sure to call ahead as this restaurant only seats approximately 30 people.
