Restaurant Review in Washington DC

My husband and I just spent the weekend in DC and I now wish we had booked an entire week there.  There is so much to do and see in DC that the weekend was just a big tease for me.  In any event, we did eat out at a fabulous restaurant that I have to give recognition to.  We met up with a group of friends at Michael Richard's Central and had a really interesting meal.  The night didn't start off on the best foot as we weren't even seated until 10 (our reservation was at 9) but they brought out complimentary cheese puffs and we quickly forgot that we were upset about the wait.  I would fly to DC just for these cheese puffs alone.  Honestly, they were that good.

There were eight of us at the table and everyone ordered one of two items: the Angus Burger (which actually got mixed reviews from our table - not the best but not the worst), and the Lobster Burger.  I was one of the lucky ones who ordered the lobster burger and I'm telling you, that burger was worth every penny of its $33 price tag.  It came with a side salad which I scarcely remember even seeing.  My stomach only had eyes for that lobster burger and I enjoyed every last bite.  In retrospect I think it would have been wise to split the burger with someone as it was SOOOOOO rich.  1/2 of a lobster burger would have been just perfect but an entire burger left me feeling a little like I had eaten an entire stick of butter.  I'm not complaining... I'm just warning anyone who may order one of their own that they may want to proceed with caution.

There were some other really interesting items on the menu that I can't imagine get requested too often.  Then again, maybe there is a contingency of people out there who get strong cravings for braised beef cheeks...  if you're one of them you can find them at Central.

Because the burger was so rich and everyone was stuffed beyond reason we couldn't order a thing from the dessert menu, which was a shame because I hear their chocolate lava cake (one of my favorite desserts of all times) is off the charts.

So, if you find yourself in DC I do recommend that you stop by Central and at the VERY least order yourself some of those amazing cheese puffs.
