My new definition of multi-tasking

I had a very interesting experience today. I received a standing ovation by a group of men playing football in the park.... and I realized that my years in the corporate world have prepared me for the biggest multi-tasking job of all - motherhood. Let me digress...
When Deanna and I first started our business Girls Night In we were both fully ensconced in the corporate world. We had crazy corporate jobs that kept us both extremely busy and we were also running a national company - Girls Night In, Inc. I loved both jobs but life was crazy. I managed over 400,000 square feet of corporate real estate for a 5,000 employee company, hosted Girls Night In parties at night, worked on PR, marketing, product development, etc. in my free time. I'm not tooting my own horn (well maybe I am just a little), but more importantly I'm trying to put this in perspective. I was busy and I was somehow able to juggle it all. Now, back to today. It was a gorgeous afternoon so I wanted to take my two corgis on a walk. I strapped my baby into his ergo carrier on my chest, tucked some baby wipes in my pocket, had a leash in each hand as well as my cell phone and poop bags. I was busy walking along singing to my baby while squatting down and picking up after the dogs when I heard the claps and hoots coming from a group of guys. One guy came over to me and said "we are all so impressed with your multi-tasking abilities - bravo!" I just laughed it off but when I got home I realized that I really am a great multi-tasker. But the strangest thing is that I am so much prouder of my multi-tasking abilities as a mom than I ever was in my previous life. Deanna and I are still running a national company & I couldn't be happier with the direction our company has taken. I guess I just see it all through different lenses now.
